Nine days, the Coptic monasteries and the holy mountain.
The Egypt pilgrimage joins the ancient Coptic Church of Cairo to the Sinai of the Prophet Moses. The Wadi Natrun monasteries where the desert fathers prayed, the Coptic Patriarchate of Saint Mark, the pyramids of Giza, and the great ascent of Mount Sinai at the monastery of Saint Catherine.
You will visit the churches of Coptic Cairo, the Hanging Church and the Church of Saint Sergius where tradition holds the Holy Family sheltered. You will pray at the Wadi Natrun monasteries, ancient houses of the desert fathers still kept by Coptic monks today. You will meet with the Coptic Patriarchate of Saint Mark. Then the road descends across the desert to the foot of Mount Sinai, to the monastery of Saint Catherine and the burning bush of Moses, and the ascent of the holy mountain by night for those able.
Each open departure gathers Orthodox Christians from many parishes across the United States and Canada into one company of pilgrims.
The full day-by-day, with the Orthodox sites at each stop and the photography, is in the downloadable PDF itinerary.
